Biography

The Thai Bass-Baritone was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1995. From 2022 to 2024, he was a member of the Lyon Opera Studio.
He parJcipated in the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg FesJval in
2022.
He completed his master's degree at the University of Music and
Performing Arts Vienna under the guidance of KS Krassimira Stoyanova
and KS Angelika Kirchschlage for Lieder. He graduated with a bachelor's
degree from the University Mozarteum Salzburg in the singing clas

Pete Thanapat was a finalist in the final round of Neue Stimmen 2022, won 2nd prize at the 26th International Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition, and was a finalist at the 40th International Belvedere Singing Competition in 2022. He was also a finalist at the 6th International Otto Edelmann Singing Competition and won the Perry Nelson Prize at the 11th International Hilde Zadek Singing Competition in 2019. He participated in the SWR Junge Opernstars 2023 in Kaiserslautern and Landau. Pete will perform the role of Marco in Gianni Schicchi at the Bregenz Festival. In early 2024, he participated in a masterclass with the legendary KS Brigitte Fassbaender in Austria. In the summer of 2023, he was heard as the Holzhacker in the production Die Königskinder at the Tyrolean Festival. In the following 2023-2024 season, he will be heard as The One-Armed Man in Die Frau ohne Schatten, Quinault in Adriana Lecouvreur, Larkens in La fanciulla del West, and Don Pedro in Béatrice et Bénédict.

During the 2022-2023 season at the Opéra de Lyon, he successfully performed as Biterolf in Wagner’s Tannhäuser, covered the role of Phanuel, and appeared on stage as the Grand Prêtre in Hérodiade. He performed as Tsar Ivan, Inquisitor, Croupier, and Señor in Candide and concluded his first season with Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro.

During his time in Salzburg with the Young Singers Project, he appeared as the Devil in the new production of The Devil with the Three Golden Hairs by Stefan Hanke. He also presented a public masterclass with Malcolm Martineau and worked with Piotr Beczala.

In 2014, he made his first international debut as Maestro Spinelloccio and Notary (Gianni Schicchi) at the Summer Opera at Bergenhus Fortress in Bergen, Norway. He has been heard in several university productions, including as Il Conte in Le nozze di Figaro and Ottone in L’incoronazione di Poppea, as well as Marcello in La Bohème and Belcore in L’elisir d’amore. He has been regularly engaged as a soloist at the Salzburg Cathedral.
